SBU AND ARMAGEDDON 2012!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SBU HAS CANCELLED LAST LIVE PERFORMANCE AT ARMAGEDDON 2012!
SBU falls short due to internal complications that cannot be resolved

RIVERVIEW, MI – December 12th, 2012 – Strength Beyond U, a local metal band from Lincoln Park, Michigan has cancelled their last live performance with long time drummer John Henegar because of multiple complications.  This performance was set to take place at The Crimson Lounge on Saturday December 15th, 2012 at an event called Armageddon 2012! Let the CHAOS begin…

Armageddon 2012 is an end of the world party that is sponsored in part by Rockstar Energy, 89X, Exquisite Body Art, and Mike Carey Music.  Drummer John Henegar was going to give his last performance with SBU before leaving the band and going off to graduate.  Mr. Henegar was advised by his doctor not to play the event because of extreme stress levels.  His blood pressure on Monday was registered at 156/95.  He has also been having severe issues with his arms and hands due to tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome.  Mr. Henegar states that even with all this in the mix, he refused to let his fans down and was willing to play.  The cancellation came when bassist Kenny Gill refused to play the show due to unknown reasons.  Due to this action, singer Christopher Grissom has decided to resign from his position as singer of SBU.  He says that he does not understand why SBU couldn’t fulfill the commitment they made to play this last date.  Mr. Grissom informed me that he is now currently looking for a new project to participate in within the Detroit area and can be found for auditions via Facebook.

Nevertheless, Armageddon 2012 will go on as scheduled.  The spot has been filled with Kastura, an amazing heavy metal band from Taylor Michigan. They have recently shared the stage with Devil Driver and Gwar at Harpo’s in Detroit.  The current line up for Armageddon 2012 consists of Kastura, Spittin Whiskey, The Worst Of, Spitshine Tommy, Wicked Trybe, Century Serpent, and Dj Curious.  This event will also be Fan Appreciation Day.  For more information regarding this event and current news, go to the Facebook event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/361751680567273/?fref=ts.  I have been informed that a very special guest act will be announced on Friday via Facebook.  This will be Lost Hope Productions last live event before closing the company.

SBU and professional drummer Mark Hobart split due to creative differences.

Ola,

I regret to inform you that Mark Hobart and SBU have split paths due to creative differences.  They have split on good terms and there are no hard feelings.  SBU believes that Mark Hobart is one of the most driven people in the industry and recommends him to anyone who is in need of a professional drummer.

SBU's last performance before they release their new album "Back from the Dead" is being held on Saturday September 17th at Simon's After Dark.  They will be playing the "Monkey Army Massacre" featuring Dj Curious with temporary drummer and former manager John Henegar.  SBU's new album Back From the Dead" is scheduled to be released later this year.  Stay posted for updates as they will slowly be released.  Talk to you soon and see you at the "Monkey Army Massacre" if you dare;)

Thank You,

V

Teamwork!

Hello,

It has come to my attention that there are many issues that bands run into while trying to follow their dreams.  These issues include both internal and external sources that can mostly be prevented with proper preparation.  In a band, you are part of a partnership or brotherhood as I like to say.  You have now become serious with four or five other members in life to which you have all agreed upon a common goal.

Issue one that arises is "Lack of Communication".  Many groups break up due to this very common issue.  If your entering into a contract of sorts with members of your band as a business,  make sure that the ultimate objective is clear.  Leave no room for gray or any issues to arise that may complicate your game plan.  Issue two is professionalism; many musicians say they are going to do something but then don't.  If your group is professional, make sure you follow through with your word.  First, have a set schedule for practices of which everyone agrees upon.  This will help you develop your product and work as a team in a more efficient way.

Second, don't let drugs or alcohol hinder your ability to be a professional.  To be taken seriously, you need to present yourself seriously as a group.  With unprofessional behavior, the goals you wish to attain will be much harder in the long run.  My advice to anyone out there who is taking their music to the next level would be this.  Make a time line as a group of what your goals are and then work on them as a team.  Not just one member but as a whole because when you do succeed, everyone can enjoy the rewards.  Always remember, there is no "I" in team.

Till next time,

John Henegar
